The more recent Civilization games (and some of the competing franchises) have motte/bailey as an intrinsic part of the design. Normally, you gather resources from some fraction of the ~20 tiles surrounding the city (the bailey). When an enemy army rolls in, they prevent you from exploiting the tiles they occupy. Unfortunately, it blocks only the tiles that the enemy army is occupying, and using 20 units to siege a city isn't worthwhile.

I do wonder if the accounts here will be carried over, or if we'll have to remake them.
